Emergency Garage Door Release

The cold months in Raleigh – Durham are here. Power outages are very common in our area during snow storms or ice events.  There are a few specific areas that seem to be prone to power outages.  In the Raleigh area towards Willow Springs, Garner, and Clayton are commonly without power during winter weather events.  The downtown Raleigh area near Glenwood and Crabtree Creek, as well as parts of Chapel Hill are typically victims to power outages.  A very common question we receive during power outages is how to disengage or reengage the garage door opener.

Included in this blog is a video tutorial of how to disengage and reengage the most common type of operator. The video shows a trolley that is used on a belt drive and chain drive, of most garage door openers used for the last 20 years. It is a good idea to practice this and know how it functions incase of an emergency during a power outage.

If you have any questions or need someone to walk you through the process we are happy to help. Give us a call anytime 919-388-9320. We are located in Raleigh near the Fair Grounds and PNC Arena, on Chapel Hill Road. We do service the entire Raleigh – Durham area including all surrounding areas.
