Raleigh residents, it’s officially spring! Are you gearing up for your spring cleaning yet? Don’t forget to add your garage door in your list of to-dos. Not only will cleaning your garage door make it sparkle and shine, but it will also keep any buildup of dirt or oil from making its way into the tracks of your garage doors, which can ultimately cause mechanical issues. Not to mention, cleaning your garage door will give you the opportunity to inspect it up close and make sure everything is working as it should be.
So how do you go about giving your garage door the TLC it needs and deserves this spring? Check out below for a few quick tips we have put together for making your beautiful, clean garage door the envy of all your Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill neighbors.
How To Clean Your Garage Door
What you will need:
- A bucket
- A hose
- A soft rag
- Dish soap or gentle detergent
- Mix a common household soap or gentle detergent with water to make your solution
- Wet the surface of your garage door using a hose
- Once the surface of the door is damp, dip the rag in the solution and scrub down the door
- Rinse off the soap – making sure to clear all areas so that the finish doesn’t wear down
- Allow the door to dry
You may also repeat the process on the inside of the door to help ensure that any unwanted buildup of dirt or oil on that side of the door is removed. Doing so will help decrease the risk that dirt will become trapped inside of the garage door’s tracks. Lastly, while you are already working on your garage door maintenance, perform a routine maintenance check to ensure that your door is working properly.
And, while you’re at it – go ahead and complete that tedious garage organization that you’ve been putting off all winter!
