Q. How do I test my safety reverse mechanism on my electric opener?
A. Place an object such as a 2x4 piece of wood flat on the ground in the center of the garage door. If the door does not reverse upon contact with the object, have a qualified professional repair or replace the faulty opener or parts.

Q. Is there any regular maintenance I should be doing on my garage door?
A. Yes, once a year inspect all garage door hardware such as the springs, cables, pulleys, rollers, and hinges for signs of wear. Lubricate all of these moving parts at least 3 to 4 times a year. Safety is always a concern, most garage door repairs should be performed by a qualified technician.

Q. One of the springs on my garage door is broken, do I need to replace them both?
A. Yes, when one spring breaks the other often follows, save yourself the inconvenience and cost of another service call and have them both replaced at the same time. It is also easier to properly balance a door when both springs are new.
